We made a trip to the Barter Trade today and bought some stuff for ourselves and folks back home. It's always interesting to go there because you never know what you might find.

We're Here in Zamboanga

We arrived in Zamboanga earlier today, traveling with Leo, Lea, and Aleigh.  Aleigh is a bright, beautiful 3 year old who has decided she loves her grandpa!  I couldn't be happier to play with her.  She speaks Tagalog and I speak English, but we understand each other perfectly.

Leo and Lea seem to be doing fine, despite Leo having been diagnosed with peptic ulcers.  The Dela Cruz's seem to be the picture of health in their mid 70's.  I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures from the 50th Annivarsary party.

Last Post from Sodekick II, Ever!

I made it to the Philippines after a nice visit with Jan and Al...the attached picture will be the last picture ever taken with my trusty Sidekick II, since the screen inexplictly broke during the trip.  Fortunately, I have the Dash with me, and I switched over to that.  Now, I myst keeo using the Dash, since I have no other phone to switch to.

Rose has been busy working on the program for her parents' 50th anniversary, and we will be flying to Zamboanga tomorrow.  Leo and his family are due here at our apartment late tonight, and we will all leave for the airport together tomorrow.

Preparing to Leave

Today is Tuesday, and I leave on my journey to the Philippines on Saturday morning at 3:00 a.m. From Roseburg to San Francisco it's the bus for a short visit with Jan and Al, then it's a 747 from there to Manila. Even in the jet age, it's still quite a trip. I love going to that part of the world; I love that place, that culture and that people.

I've got to go shopping on Friday morning for things I need to bring with me, then I have to pack Friday night and say goodbye to the kids. Now I live in two worlds, but the day is coming when I'll stay in one, with Rose.

Breakfast with Rose

Rose and I have breakfast together every morning. Well, I'm having breakfast, and Rose is having a late-night snack. We read the news on Yahoo and discuss the news, make plans for the day.

At my night/her morning, we have dinner/breakfast, then watch a movie or some TV shows. We generally don't watch the same shows at the same time, but we can see the same shows at different times....and we have the same tastes in shows.

Now it's 10 days until I leave for the Philippines!

An Early Thanksgiving

We all had Saturday off, so we decided to have ourselves an early Thanksgiving! I was great to be able to coordinate our busy schedules! We cooked turkey, dressing, mashed potatos, broccoli, gravy, bread, and we had pecan and peach pie for dessert. After dinner we watched two movies..."Juno" (nice movie) and "The Mummy" (fun movie)
